Applying

When applying to University of Connecticut, it's important to note the application deadline is January 15. Scores for either the ACT or SAT test are due February 1. The application fee at University of Connecticut is $70. It is more selective, with an acceptance rate of 50 percent.

School of Engineering & School of Nursing applicants: high school chemistry and physics are required.

* Two years of a documented foreign language, that is not English, without level repetition is required.

 

A Completed Common Application or Coalition Application

Essay & Two Optional Letters of Recommendation

The personal essay is required and provides the applicant an opportunity to add a unique voice to the application as well as demonstrate writing ability. The personal essay is a component on the Common Application or the Coalition Application and should range between 250 – 650 words.

 

Two letters of recommendation are optional but can distinguish an applicant’s character and are preferred. Recommendation letters can be sent electronically, by fax or postal mail.

Official SAT or ACT Scores

The writing section of the SAT or ACT is not required or used in the application process.

Fall applicants are strongly encouraged to take the exam prior to December to assure scores are received by the application deadline of January 15.

 

Official TOEFL or IELTS Scores (international applicants who are non-native English speakers)

The minimum score requirement for the TOEFL is 550 (paper-based), 213 (computer-based), or 79 (Internet-based). The minimum score requirement for the IELTS exam is 6.5.
