요즘 싱가포르, 일본, 홍콩 등 아시아 대학에 대한 수험생들의 관심이 부쩍 높아진 것을 느낍니다. 그만큼 아시아권 대학의 경쟁력과 선호도가 미국 못지않다는 것이겠죠. 더욱이 싱가포르 국립대학 등은 높은 취업률로 영국이나 미국으로도 사회진출이 이뤄지고 있습니다.  이들 대학들은 외국인 유학생들에게도 장학금 혜택이나 Financial Aid 혜택이 상당히 유연하고 좋아서, 한국에서 공부하는 수험생들이 한국 대학이 아닌, 아시아권 명문 대학을 목표로 공부 방향을 잡는 주된 이유 중 하나가 되었습니다.

우선 싱가포르 경영 대학교에 대한 간단한 소개를 하자면, 이 대학은 2000년 1월 12일 설립된 싱가포르 최초로 정부 재정으로 운영되는 자치 대학으로 1999년 펜실베이니아 대학교 와튼 경영 대학과 협약을 체결하고 2000년 싱가포르 국립대학의 래플즈 대학에 최초로 자리를 잡았습니다. 
이 대학은 국제 경영 대학발전협의회로부터 AACSB 인증을 받은 신진 대학 가운데 하나이며, 싱가포르 경영 대학의 리콩찬 경영 대학은 유럽경영 대학협의회로부터 5년 동안 인증받았다고 합니다.  이 대학의 주요 학부를 보면, 회계 대학, 리콩찬 경영 대학, 경제대학, 정보 시스템대학, 법과대학, 사회과학대학 등이 있습니다.

대학 랭킹 
아시아 대학 랭킹 9위, 세계 랭킹 32위(The Financial Times Executive MBA Ranking 2016), QS Asian universities ranking 60위의 명문 대학입니다.

A holistic approach to the admission process

In addition to GPA, our admission committee weighs many factors during the course of the application process, including classroom performance, rigor of high school curriculum, quality of essays and recommendations, extracurricular activities, talents, character and life experiences. But what's most important for you to know is that your application will be considered individually, on its own merit. While standardized test scores (SAT/ACT) are not required for foreign passport holders attending secondary school outside the United States, these scores will be considered if they are submitted as part of the application for admission.

고등학교 최소 요구 코스웍 

SMU strongly recommend a minimum of 17-18 solid academic units including 4 English, 3 math (algebra I, II, geometry), 3 social science, 3 science (2 lab science), and 2 foreign language (of the same language). Students who present programs in excess of minimum requirements generally have an advantage in the admission process.  Competitive applicants present an average of 20 high school academic units.

에세이 작성

Each application (The Common Application, ApplyTexas, and the SMU Online Application) has its own set of essay prompts with varying length requirements, but essays are generally 250 – 650 words in length.  No matter which application method you choose, all essays are reviewed equally.
